Black Board http://elearning.ntnu.edu.tw/
EBL's 5 steps:
1. Define Problem (解釋問題)
2. Find Evidence (找出證據)
3. Appraise Evidence (評估證據)
4. Apply Results of Appraisal
5. Evaluate Change (變化評估)
6. Redefine Problem (Booth and Brice, 2003)
Evidence Summary: Undergraduates Prefer Federated Searching to Searching Databases Individually
Case Design: Crossover study (交叉學習)
Setting: 3 Colleges in USA,
Main Results:
From this case, there are seventy precent users preferred meta-search. But, there are a little difference between meta-search and non-meta-search.
So, we could think some thing in this case.
1. Should we use the meta-search? (For user)
2. Should we buy the meta-search? (For Library)
I'm agree Professor Pu's suggestion that undergraduate shouldn't use the meta-search. Because they would get too many informations and couldn't find what they are.
In our Academia Sinica in Taiwan, our libraries would like to buy the meta-search. But we had found some question for meta-search.
1. Too expensive.
2. There are some DB couldn't been used with meta-search. For example, the DB must been used the UserID and PW.
3. The statistic for use DB that couldn't been used. Because I use the meta-search, all of DB would been counted one time.
